Top-plateBasic design features:

For improved combustion and reduced smoke:

  • Fuel loaded from the front through a small hole accommodating only thin pieces of firewood
  • Undercurrent of air through an air inlet into the firechamber on the side
  • High firechamber to burn off unburnt ‘exhaust’ gases to reduce smoke emissions and improved heat exploitation

Esperanza sideviewFor improved heat transfer:

  • Top-plate out of fired ceramic clay to ensure the correct features of the pot-rests.
  • Skirt around the pot to force flue gases against the pot. One hole cut open to accommodate frying pans and pots with handles.
